Using the Prompt Library
Quick Answer
Save reusable prompts in the Prompt Library and insert them into chat or assign them to AI summary and metrics sections in report views. Manage your prompts from the Prompts workspace tab (open from the sidebar) or directly from My Prompts in the chat composer.
What Is the Prompt Library?
The Prompt Library is a personal store of reusable text templates for questions or instructions you use often. Prompts can be:
- Inserted into chat with one click
- Assigned to AI-generated sections in report views and analytics
Zeus.ai also ships a set of read-only Starter prompts as a starting point. You can use them as-is or fork them into your own editable copy with the Customize button.
How to Open the Prompt Library
From the Sidebar (full management view)
- Click Prompts (lightbulb icon) in the left sidebar
- The Prompts workspace tab opens in the panel beside the map
- From here you can create, edit, delete, and review usage for all saved prompts
From the Chat Composer (quick insert or manage)
- Click the chat input to expand the composer
- Click My Prompts (document icon) at the top of the composer
- Browse the list and click a prompt to insert it directly into chat
- Click Manage to open the full Prompts workspace tab
If no workspace panel is open (for example, on mobile), clicking Manage opens a modal overlay instead of the workspace tab.
From the Tabs Menu
- Click the Tabs Menu button (
≡) in the tab strip - Under the Project category, select Prompts
Managing Prompts in the Workspace Tab
The Prompts tab has a two-panel layout: a library list on the left and an editor on the right (on mobile, use the Library / Editor toggle to switch between them).
Creating a Prompt
- Click New Prompt in the Prompts tab header
- Fill in the Name, optional Description, and Body (the prompt text)
- Choose Visibility: private (only you) or public (your whole team)
- Optionally pin an AI Model — see Pinning a Model to a Prompt below
- Save
Editing a Prompt
- Select the prompt in the library list
- The editor panel opens on the right
- Make your changes and save
Deleting a Prompt
- Select the prompt in the library list
- Click the delete action in the editor panel
Customizing a Starter Prompt
Starter prompts (marked with the Starter badge) are system-provided and cannot be edited directly. To create your own editable version:
- Select the Starter prompt
- Click Customize — Zeus.ai forks it into a new user-owned copy and opens it in the editor
- Edit and save the copy; the original Starter remains unchanged
Prompt Usage Metadata
Each prompt card in the library shows a Used in N sections badge when one or more report views or AI sections reference it. Click the prompt to see a Used by list in the editor panel, which shows the report template name and section type for each reference.
This helps you understand which prompts are actively in use before editing or deleting them.
Inserting a Prompt into Chat
To insert a saved prompt into chat:
- Click My Prompts in the composer
- Click any prompt in the list — it fills the chat input immediately
- Modify the text if needed, then send
Pinning a Model to a Prompt
Each prompt can optionally pin a specific AI model. When the prompt is used, it runs on that model rather than your current selection.
Prompts used in chat
All models in your chat catalog are available — DeepSeek, Claude, GPT, and Gemini.
Prompts used in AI Summary or AI Metrics sections
AI Summary and AI Metrics sections always run on DeepSeek. When you open the prompt editor in a context where the prompt will be used for one of these sections (for example, via the section settings in Location Analytics or the report template builder), the model dropdown is limited to:
- DeepSeek V4 Pro — default, thinking mode enabled
- DeepSeek V4 Flash — faster, lower latency
If a prompt was previously saved with a Claude model and is now used in an AI Summary or AI Metrics section, the Claude pin is ignored and the section falls back to DeepSeek V4 Pro automatically.
Prompt Visibility
| Visibility | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Private | Only you |
| Shared with company | All users in your company |
