Location Analytics Chat
Quick Answer
Open the chat panel directly inside Location Analytics to ask follow-up questions about the selected site. Click the chat icon in the Location Analytics header to start. A pre-filled analysis prompt appears so you can send it as-is or edit it before the conversation begins.
What Is Location Analytics Chat?
Location Analytics Chat is a conversational AI panel built into the Location Analytics tab. It is separate from the main chat bar and is scoped to the site you are currently viewing. Questions and responses in this panel sync context with the main chat so you can continue analysis in either place.
Available on all site types:

Opening the Chat Panel
- Click a site marker on the map to open Location Analytics.
- Look for the chat icon in the Location Analytics header (tooltip: "Discuss this site with Zeus.ai").
- Click the icon to open the chat panel.
The button is disabled until a site is fully in context and a project is active.
Starting a New Thread: Seed Mode
When you open a chat on a site for the first time, the composer is pre-filled with a suggested analysis prompt — this is called seed mode. The site is attached as a mention pill inside the composer.
What You See in Seed Mode
- The composer shows a pre-written analysis prompt with the site pill already inserted.
- The placeholder text reads "Send to start your analysis".
- A hint below the composer reads "Press Send to analyze".
- A "Clear & type my own" link appears below the composer.
Your Options in Seed Mode

File Attachments in Seed Mode
The file attach button is disabled while the seed prompt is active. It becomes available after you send the first message and the thread is running. The tooltip reads "File upload unavailable until chat starts."
Chatting After the Seed
Once you send the first message, the chat works the same as the main chat bar:
- Ask follow-up questions about the site.
- All main composer controls are active: model selector, My Prompts, @ mention, file attach, voice input.
- Responses stream in the panel and maintain conversation context.
- The site insight context syncs with the main chat.
Starting a New Thread on the Same Site
Click the new chat icon (add_comment) in the chat panel header to start a fresh thread for the same site. The seed prompt is pre-filled again so you can begin a new analysis.
Use this when:
- You want to explore a different angle without the prior conversation context.
- A previous thread has grown long and you want a clean slate.
Initialization Errors
If the panel fails to connect during startup, it stays open and shows an error message with a Retry button. Click Retry to attempt reconnection without closing the panel.
Tips
- The seed prompt is designed to give the AI enough context to run a complete first-line analysis. Sending it as-is is a good starting point.
- To compare two sites side by side, open Location Analytics in a second workspace tab and start a separate chat on each site.
- Model selection in the mini-chat works the same as in the main chat. The selected model is shown in the composer controls.
- Voice input and My Prompts work the same as in the main chat bar.
Troubleshooting
Chat button not visible
The button appears only when one of the four supported site types (Proposed, Existing, Search pin, Layer pin) is open in Location Analytics. If you see no button, check that a site is fully loaded in the tab.
Chat button grayed out
The button is disabled until a project is active and a site is in context. Verify a project is selected and the Location Analytics tab has finished loading.
Panel opens but shows "Connecting to Zeus.ai..."
Initialization may take a few seconds on first open or after a server restart. If the spinner persists, click the Retry button that appears with the error message.
Seed prompt does not appear
The seed prompt only appears on the first message in a new thread. If you have already sent a message in this thread, you are in normal chat mode. Use the new chat icon in the header to start a fresh thread with the seed prompt.
