Appearance
Sidebar Navigation
Quick Answer
The left app sidebar is the meta-frame around every project page. It hosts the product switcher (Locate, Customer Insights, Build, Sell), a Back to Projects shortcut, a Project Management section (Projects and Compare Projects), the Help & Support section, and your profile / sign-out menu at the bottom.
When You'll See It
The sidebar appears on every page inside a project — the Locate map, Customer Insights, and the product upgrade pages all share it. It also appears on the global projects list (the page you reach via Back to Projects). The sidebar is absent only on the sign-in screen.

└───────────────────┘The Product Switcher
The Products group is the main way you move between SiteZeus products inside a single project. Each row keeps the project context — clicking a product opens it for the project you're already in.
| Product | Tagline | What it opens |
|---|---|---|
| Locate | Pick better sites | The map workspace (chat bar, panels, Site Sonar, Listings, analytics) |
| Customer Insights | Drive same-store sales | The embedded SiteZeus Market / PersonaLive experience (see below) |
| Build | Open sites faster | A marketing page (preview product — request a demo or talk to your team) |
| Sell | Find quality franchisees | A marketing page (preview product — request a demo or talk to your team) |
The active product gets a colored icon-square and a colored label; other rows dim slightly. Hover any row to preview its brand color.
Locate (always available)
Locate is the core mapping workspace and is available to every project. The sidebar always shows Locate's sub-items beneath it (Scorecards, Revenue Grades, and other project-scoped destinations) — even while you're on Customer Insights or a marketing page. Clicking a sub-item from another product jumps back to the map and opens the matching tab.
Customer Insights (tier-gated)
Customer Insights requires the Customer Insights data bundle on the project you're in, which in turn requires your company to hold the SiteZeus Market subscription. SiteZeus checks this live against your project when you click — never against anything cached from when you signed in. Clicking the row always routes somewhere — never a silent failure:
- You have access — opens the Customer Insights experience inside SiteZeus (an embedded iframe view of
persona.spatial.ai). - You don't have access — opens Customer Insights and immediately shows a "Customer Insights isn't available for this project" message inviting you to contact your account team. This covers both a project that isn't provisioned for the bundle and a company without the subscription at all.
Tip: Right-click the Customer Insights row to Open in new tab — useful if you want to keep the Locate map open side-by-side with Customer Insights.
See Customer Insights for the full walkthrough.
Build and Sell (pre-launch)
Build and Sell are pre-launch products. The sidebar rows always route to a marketing iframe — clicking either opens the upgrade page so you can preview the value proposition and request information from your account team.
Project Management
The Project Management group appears on the global projects list page (reached via Back to Projects). It is hidden inside a project — Back to Projects already covers returning to the list from there. It contains two rows:
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Projects | Returns to the global projects list (same as Back to Projects) |
| Compare Projects | Opens the Compare Projects page where you can compare Zeustimate predictions against actual site performance across one or more projects |
Compare Projects is Enterprise-only: the row appears in Project Management only for Enterprise accounts. On lower tiers (for example Emerging) it is hidden and the page cannot be opened directly.
See Compare Projects for the full walkthrough.
Help & Support
Below the Project Management group, the Help & Support section gives you several rows (which ones appear depends on your feature flags and permissions):
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| What's New | Opens the What's New page showing recent product updates and releases |
| Product Tour | Starts or resumes the 21-step guided product tour (visible when feature-flag enabled) |
| Restart Tour | Replaces "Product Tour" after you complete the tour; resets and restarts from step 1 |
| Help Center | Opens this help site in a new browser tab |
| Feedback | Opens the Feedback board where you can submit and vote on feature requests |
| Chat with Support | Toggles the live support chat widget on/off (your preference is remembered) |
Product Tour is controlled by a feature flag and is not visible to all users. If you do not see it, the tour has not been enabled for your account. See Guided Product Tour for the full walkthrough.
Looking for Manage Account? It has moved out of Help & Support and now lives in the account popover at the bottom of the sidebar, directly above Appearance. See Account Popover below and Manage Account (Users).
Use Chat with Support when you have a real-time question for the SiteZeus team. The toggle is per-user and persists across sessions — turn it back off when you don't want the widget on screen.
Account Popover (Bottom)
The bottom of the sidebar shows your initials and display name. Click it to open the account popover:
- Your name, email, and (if applicable) Support Admin badge
- Manage Account submenu (icon:
manage_accounts) — permission-gated; rolling out. Contains Manage Users (icon:group), which opens Manage Account (Users), and — for Support Admins only — SSO Auth (icon:key), which opens the SSO Authentication settings page. The submenu appears only if you have permission to view users; otherwise it is hidden entirely. - Appearance submenu (theme, layout, sidebar-when-collapsed, secondary workspace, reset workspace) — available on all pages
- Privacy submenu — visible inside a project only
- Sign out
On mobile, the popover opens as a bottom sheet instead of a dropdown. The Reset workspace confirmation lives at the account popover; use it when your panels are in a stuck state and you'd like to start the map workspace fresh.
Collapse, Pin, and Peek
The sidebar has three states on desktop:
- Expanded — full width, labels visible
- Icon rail — narrow column of icons only; hover the rail to peek the full sidebar without pinning it open
- Off-canvas — hidden behind a trigger (used on mobile and narrow viewports)
Inside the sidebar header you'll find a chevron that toggles between expanded and icon rail. Use the chevron whenever you want more (or less) horizontal room for the map. Your preference is remembered for the project.
While peeking from the icon rail, the panel slides over the workspace temporarily — move your mouse away and the rail collapses back.
Mobile Differences
On phones and narrow tablets:
- The sidebar collapses to a slide-in drawer. A hamburger button appears in the top-left corner to open it. This trigger is present on the map page, Customer Insights, product pages, and the global projects list — so the sidebar is always reachable regardless of which page you are on.
- The brand row inside the drawer shows a close button (X-style chevron) instead of the pin/collapse toggle.
- The account popover opens as a bottom sheet rather than an overlay dropdown.
The product list, Project Management, Help & Support, and account menu work the same in both layouts.
Common Pitfalls
- The Customer Insights row opened, but says it isn't available for this project. That project isn't on the Customer Insights data bundle, or your company doesn't hold the SiteZeus Market subscription. The message includes a way to reach your account team, who can enable it.
- I don't see the Customer Insights row. The row only appears while you're inside a project. Open a project from the projects list and it appears in the Products group.
- The sidebar disappeared. You probably navigated to the global projects list. Open any project to bring it back.
- Build / Sell take me to a marketing page every time. Those products are not yet generally available. The marketing page is the entire current experience.
- I do not see a "Product Tour" row. The tour is behind a feature flag. If you expect to have access, contact the SiteZeus support team.
