Map Reports
Quick Answer
A Map Report freezes the current live workspace map into an interactive, shareable snapshot. It captures exactly what is on your map right now -- site markers, shapes, Site Sonar results, listings, traffic, and your layer styling -- as a report you can pan, zoom, toggle layers on, print to PDF, and share by link. Create one from the Create map report (camera) button on the map toolbar, from the Map report item in the mobile Mapping Options menu, or from the camera button on a data tab (Sites, Shapes, Listings, or Site Sonar).
What a Map Report Captures
Unlike the site- and shape-scoped reports you run from analytics views (see Generating Reports from Chat), a Map Report is about the whole map view. It freezes the layers currently drawn on your workspace map into a single interactive document that stays fixed at the moment you created it. Recipients can still explore the frozen map, but the underlying data does not change after capture.
Creating a Map Report
From the map toolbar (desktop)
- Set up the map the way you want it captured -- pan, zoom, toggle the layers and site types you want, and apply any styling.
- Click Create map report (the camera icon) in the map toolbar.
- In the dialog, choose which layers to include and give the report a name (see below).
- Click Create report.
From the mobile Mapping Options menu
- Tap the floating Mapping Options button.
- Tap Map report.
- Complete the dialog and tap Create report.
From a data tab (tab-scoped capture)
Each data tab has its own camera button that captures only that tab's layer, even if other layers are visible on the map:
| Tab | Camera button tooltip |
|---|---|
| Sites | Create a map report of the sites shown on the map |
| Shapes | Create a map report of the shapes shown on the map |
| Listings | Create a map report of the listings shown on the map |
| Site Sonar | Create a map report of the visible Site Sonar runs |
This is a shortcut for a single-source report -- for example, capturing just your sites without manually unchecking the other layers. When you start from a tab camera, the layer picker is hidden and the report locks to that tab's layer.
The Create Map Report Dialog
Dialog title: Create map report
- Full picker (from the toolbar or mobile menu): the description reads "Choose the layers to include -- everything currently on your map is selected." Every layer that currently has data on the map is listed as a checkbox and pre-checked. Uncheck any you want to leave out.
- Tab-locked (from a tab camera): the layer picker is hidden and the dialog notes that it "Creates a map report from the [layer] layer as it's shown on your map right now."
Available layers (only those with data on the map appear):
| Layer | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Sites | Every site marker currently on the map, with its overlays |
| Shapes | Visible saved shape layers, territories, and trade areas |
| Listings | The Listings layer as shown on the map |
| Site Sonar | Visible Site Sonar runs |
| Traffic | Nearby traffic segments and traffic volumes |
Report name: enter a name in the Report name field (up to 120 characters). If you leave it blank, the report is named after the project (for example, "Downtown Metro -- Map Report").
Click Create report to run it, or Cancel to back out.
If nothing is on the map, the dialog shows "Nothing is on the map yet. Add sites, shapes, listings, Site Sonar, or traffic, then try again."
Viewing a Map Report
The Map Report opens as a full-bleed interactive map that behaves like your live workspace map:
- Pan, zoom, tilt, and rotate the frozen map. Use Recenter & reset to return to the original framing.
- Clustering: nearby sites collapse into count bubbles that expand as you zoom. A Clusters toggle in the legend turns clustering on or off.
- Site popups: hover or click a marker to see its details (revenue, Zeustimate, and the attributes captured at freeze time). Click the pin button in a popup to keep it open.
- Legend: a collapsible legend lists each captured layer and category. Use the eye icons to temporarily show or hide layers in the viewer without changing the saved report.
Map Reports render for print as well -- export a PDF that matches the framing and visible layers.
Sharing
Every Map Report can be shared with a public link. Anyone with the link can open the frozen map read-only, with the same interactive pan/zoom/legend controls, without signing in. Treat the link as shareable web content and only send it to intended recipients.
Where Map Reports Live
Map Reports are saved alongside your other report runs in the Reports tab history (sidebar > Locate > Reports), where you can reopen, re-run, or share them. See Generating Reports from Chat for the shared report history and sharing behavior.
