Territory Management
Quick Answer
Territory Management is the workspace tab for controlling franchisee access within a project. It has three tabs: Franchise Groups (the owner groups in your company), Site Access (which franchise groups own which sites), and Territories (map areas and which users can access them). Open it from Territory Management under the Locate product group in the left sidebar. Each tab is permission-gated, so you only see the ones you are allowed to manage.
Getting There
- Open the left sidebar.
- Under the Locate product group, click Territory Management (icon:
territory). - The tab opens in the workspace panel. Its header reads Territory Management with the description "Manage franchisee access for this project's company."
The Territory Management entry appears only when you have permission to view at least one of its tabs. Use the expand icon in the header for a fullscreen view.
Franchise Groups
A franchise group is an owner (a franchisee or Corporate) that sites can belong to. This tab is scoped to the active project's company.
- Search for a franchise group with the search box, or sort with Sort by name.
- Each group card shows its license tiers (for example, "2/5 in use" per role) and any account contracts (owner and expiration date). Use Show all / Show less to expand a card with many entries.
- Click Add to create a group, or use a card's Edit and delete (trash icon) actions. These buttons appear only if you have the matching permission.
Add or Edit a franchise group
The Add Franchise Group / Edit Franchise Group dialog has:
- General — the Group name.
- Contract — start and end dates, and a License tiers grid mapping a User role (Read Only, Predictive, or Power User) to a number of Licenses (up to three tiers, one per role). Contract and license-tier editing is available to Support Admins only; everyone else sees a note to "Contact support@sitezeus.com to set up or modify a contract."
Deleting a group asks you to confirm; the group and its SiteZeus contract assignments are removed permanently.
Site Access
The Site Access tab assigns sites to franchise groups (owners).
- Use Search for a site and the Filter by: Owner dropdown (All owners, Corporate, or a specific group) to find sites.
- Select one or more sites with the row checkboxes.
- Click Assign Access. In the Assign Access dialog, choose which owners the selected site(s) belong to (Corporate is pinned at the top; search the franchise groups below it), then click Assign.
The site list has sortable Site and Owners columns. When multiple sites are selected, a banner reminds you that your changes apply to all of them, and you must make at least one assignment.
This tab is available to Support Admins and Franchise Admins.
Territories
A territory is a saved map area, with control over which users can access it. Territories are project-scoped.
Territory permissions
Four toggles at the top of the tab control how territory permissions behave across the project. Each saves immediately:
| Toggle | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Use Territories | Activate to restrict users to their assigned sites. Deactivate to give all users access to all sites. |
| View Other Existing Sites | Activate to let users see where other sites are located, without their revenues or site attributes. Deactivate to show only their own sites. |
| Access Unassigned Areas | Activate to let franchisees access areas not assigned to any territory. Deactivate to keep them out of those areas. |
| View Other Sites of Interest | Activate to let users see all sites of interest, including those outside their territories. Deactivate to limit them to their own. |
The three toggles after Use Territories only take effect while Use Territories is on.
When Use Territories is turned off, the restricted-territory map overlay - the shaded "Unassigned territory" area - no longer draws on the map, and its entry under Layers -> Shapes is hidden. Turning Use Territories back on restores the overlay. (The overlay is a franchisee visualization of assigned versus unassigned areas; it is not shown when territory permissions are off.)
Managing territories
- Search for a territory with the search box.
- Import territories from a
.csv,.tsv,.geojson, or.jsonfile, or Export the list to CSV. - Each row shows the territory name (and an optional external ID) and its Assigned Users. Row actions let you View sites in territory, Rename territory, or Delete territory.
Assigning users to territories
- Select one or more territories with the row checkboxes.
- Click Assign Users.
- In the Assign Users dialog, search for users and choose who can access the selected territory(ies), then click Assign. You must make at least one assignment; when several territories are selected, your changes apply to all of them.
Managing territories requires the permission to edit territories; if you lack it, the Territories tab does not appear.
Permissions at a Glance
Every tab is permission-gated, and the same rules are enforced by the server:
| Tab / action | Who can use it |
|---|---|
| View Franchise Groups | Users with the franchise view permission, or Support Admins |
| Add / edit / delete franchise groups | Users with the matching franchise permission, or Support Admins |
| Edit contracts and license tiers | Support Admins only |
| View Site Access | Support Admins and Franchise Admins |
| View / manage Territories | Users with the edit-territories permission |
If you have none of these, the tab shows a Not authorized message.
Territory Management is gated only by the permissions above — it is not a subscription-tier upgrade.
