Customer Insights
Quick Answer
Customer Insights (SiteZeus Market) is a customer-analytics product that helps you understand who actually visits your stores and how to drive same-store sales. It opens from the left sidebar and is embedded inside SiteZeus as a managed iframe. Access is gated on the PersonaLive subscription at the company level and on a per-project data bundle.
When to Use Customer Insights
Use Customer Insights when you want to:
- Profile the customers visiting your existing locations
- Understand cross-shopping behavior and trade areas at a customer level
- Compare projects or markets through a customer-analytics lens
- Drive same-store sales decisions with persona-level data
Locate (the map workspace) is for picking new sites. Customer Insights is for getting more out of the sites you already operate.
Opening Customer Insights
From inside any project, click Customer Insights in the left sidebar's Products group. SiteZeus checks your access live, against the project you're in, when you click.
What happens next depends on your access:
- Provisioned — Customer Insights opens inside SiteZeus.
- Not provisioned — Customer Insights opens but immediately shows "Customer Insights isn't available for this project" with an invitation to contact your account team. This covers both a project that hasn't been provisioned for the bundle (common for non-US projects) and a company that doesn't have a Market subscription at all — either way, talk to your account team about enabling it.
Tip: Right-click the Customer Insights row in the sidebar to Open in new tab. The new tab opens the product outside the SiteZeus iframe, which is useful when you want to view Customer Insights and the Locate map side-by-side.
Inside Customer Insights
Customer Insights renders inside SiteZeus as a managed iframe — the surrounding sidebar and top-of-page chrome stay consistent with the rest of SiteZeus, while the customer-analytics experience itself is served by the SiteZeus Market platform.
A few things to know:
- The first paint shows a loading overlay with the Customer Insights product mark. If the embedded view takes more than 10 seconds to respond, SiteZeus drops the spinner so the page isn't stuck on loading forever.
- If SiteZeus can't work out which project and company to load, you'll see a "Can't embed Customer Analytics" card explaining what went wrong.
- If the embed itself is blocked or never loads (network issue, third-party framing blocked), the area stays blank. Right-click the Customer Insights row in the sidebar and choose Open in new tab to view it outside the frame.
- Switching between Locate, Customer Insights, and the upgrade pages within the same project preserves the sidebar's project header — you won't see a flash of "no project" while moving between products.
Tier Gating, Briefly
Customer Insights is not included in the base SiteZeus subscription. Access is decided per project: the project must carry the Customer Insights data bundle, which your account team adds during project provisioning (and which requires your company to hold the SiteZeus Market subscription in the first place).
SiteZeus checks this live, against the project you're in, each time you open Customer Insights — it does not rely on anything cached from when you signed in. That check runs before SiteZeus tries to load the embedded view, so a project without the bundle shows the "isn't available for this project" message rather than handing you a blank or rejected embed.
If you're trying to enable Customer Insights for your company or for a new project, contact your SiteZeus account team — the message you land on includes a direct way to reach them.
Common Pitfalls
- Customer Insights opened but says it isn't available for this project. That project isn't on the Customer Insights data bundle, or your company doesn't hold the SiteZeus Market subscription. Either way your account team can sort it out — the message includes a way to contact them.
- The product is enabled for my company but a specific project says it's not. That project isn't on the Customer Insights data bundle. Your account team can add it.
- I don't see the Customer Insights row at all. The row only appears while you're inside a project. Open a project from the projects list and it appears in the Products group.
- The embedded view times out or blanks. Right-click the Customer Insights row in the sidebar and choose Open in new tab. If it works in a standalone tab but not embedded, contact support — third-party framing settings may have changed.
