Population Movement Data
Quick Answer
The Population Pulse bundle (provided by Azira) is built from nationwide observations of over 170 million mobile devices, covering roughly 60 to 70 percent of US adults. It reveals when and where populations swell or diminish, helping you answer questions like which trade area peaks at lunch hour or how to set store hours based on local activity patterns.
Overview
The population movement data set measures mobile device counts that represent sample populations across specific timeframes, built from a three-month nationwide observation window. Because the data captures movement rather than home locations, it shows you how an area's population changes through the day.
Use it to answer questions such as:
- Which of my trade areas has the highest population at lunch hour?
- Should I keep my store open later based on local foot traffic?
- When does activity peak near a proposed site?
Data Structure
Device counts are grouped into 26 time groupings:
- All 24 hours of the day
- Weekday average
- Weekend average
This lets you compare specific times or day types across locations and trade areas.
